Studio Carlton Enters “America’s Victoria” into the Alexa Skills Multimodal Challenge

America's Victoria Alexa Skill(StudioCarlton)  Atlanta, GA / Studio Carlton, producers and developers of Alexa Skills have announced their entry of America’s Victoria Alexa Skill into the Alexa MultiModal Challenge.

Producer and Director, Victoria lynn Weston wanted to reach the new VOICE audience and turned the PBS featured documentary, America’s Victoria, Remembering Victoria Woodhull into an Alexa Skill.

America’s Victoria Alexa Skill is a newly designed voice-first visual experience which includes display images, text, and overlays to communicate requested information at a glance for Amazon devices like the new Echo Show, Echo Spot, and Fire TV.

Once users enable America’s Victoria, they can “Ask a Question” about the life of Victoria Woodhull to explore Victoria’s themes during her lifetime – she was the first woman to run for US President in 1872 – her poverty stricken childhood, politics, her publishing success, her time as a stockbroker, her hard times, and her final days in England.

  • “Ask a Question” Answers/Responses appear in  ScrollView that are read using the Speech Synchronization feature. The background archival images are from the documentary, “America’s Victoria, Remembering Victoria Woodhull.”
  • “Tell me a Quote” from Victoria’s fiery speeches can be selected from a horizontal scrolling Sequence that allows either voice selection or via TouchWrapper . Actress Kate Capshaw performs the voice over of Victoria’s own words.
  • “Tell me a Fact” also displays archival images from the documentary with mp3 audio playing in the background. Facts are audio excerpts from the documentary, “America’s Victoria, Remembering Victoria Woodhull.” “Tell me a Fact” audio excerpts also feature interviews with feminist icon Gloria Steinem, and UCLA Professor Ellen DuBois and Boston University Professor, Robert Fox.

“While it would be awesome to be one of ten finalists to win $5000 each, says Victoria lynn Weston, “our ultimate goal of introducing these new voice-first visual experiences like America’s Victoria is to present an engaging, conversational user experience when it comes to learning about the incredible life of Victoria Woodhull through Alexa, we want to be part of that journey.”

Amazon Alexa MultiModal Challenge will promote the 10 finalists’ skills in round 2 and customer engagement will become part of the judging criteria for one grand prize winner to be awarded $20,000. Winners to be announced in March 2019.
